GRILL'SALWAYS ON.

— est. 1957, Midtown Manhattan —

Seven decades of the same recipe. Hand-pressed patties on a cast-iron griddle you can hear sizzling from the sidewalk. Milkshakes thick enough to stand a spoon in. Open since Eisenhower — closed for nobody.

SINCE 1957

Moe Silverstein flipped the first burger on this griddle the same week the Yankees won the pennant. That griddle is still here. So is the recipe. So is the neon sign out front — the glass replaced twice, the glow never once.

We've weathered seven decades, four generations, one blackout, and a pandemic. Through all of it, the coffee stayed hot and the door stayed open.

THE WORD ON THE STREET

— what the regulars are saying —

★★★★★

"My grandfather took my father here. My father took me. I took my kid last Sunday. Same booth, same burger, same coffee refilled without asking. Some places just get it right."

— James K., regular since '94
★★★★★

"Came in at 3 AM after a show. Got the Double Stack and a chocolate shake. The waitress called me 'sweetheart' and meant it. This is what a diner is supposed to be."

— Maria S., off-Broadway
★★★★★

"No frills. No trends. No QR-code menus. Just a hot griddle, a cold milkshake, and a jukebox that still plays Sam Cooke. I'd drive in from Jersey for this."

— Tom R., Hoboken
